Laser Sailing Tips – Learn to sail

Laser Sailing Tips has been publishing guides for Laser and ILCA sailors since 2011. Our aim is to provide sailors with the information they need to get onto the water fast. I realize that it’s difficult when you are just starting out, and often you don’t know what you don’t know.

I know that I found it difficult to find all the information that I needed when I started laser sailing, and I am sure that others have had the same problem. That’s why I’ve put together all the information on this site – to get you up to speed on learning to sail, sailing theory, what to look out for when looking for and buying a Laser, the different terminologies so you understand what sellers and other sailors are talking about, the different parts of a Laser and how they work, hitting the water for the first time, etc, etc.

I know that this part of the journey can be overwhelming, so I have worked hard to equip newbie sailors with the info they need so they can make informed decisions (and not get ripped off).

How this site makes money, and what that means for you

Laser Sailing Tips doesn’t sell boats, parts or gear. It has no relationship with any retailer, manufacturer or class body. Nobody pays for a placement here.

When gear is recommended, it’s filtered for real Laser / ILCA use. Where readers have reported problems with a product, that goes into the review alongside the good points. If something isn’t reliably available, we say so rather than working around it.

The site earns a commission when you buy through an Amazon link, at no extra cost to you. That’s the only way it makes money, and it doesn’t change which products get recommended.

Corrections welcome

Every article takes comments, and they get answered. Several of the warnings in the gear guides came from readers writing in about products that failed on them. If something here is wrong or out of date, please say so.

So thanks for visiting my laser sailing site

I hope that you find this website useful. Please leave your feedback and comments (constructive or otherwise – it’s all good). I acknowledge and appreciate all feedback. So let me know if there is something you want to be covered that hasn’t been yet included.

Good luck on your sailing journey. It’s an exciting journey… one where you are never quite sure where it will lead you. And don’t forget to spread the word and get as many people as you can involved in sailing.

cheers
Brendan
